best hiking sticks

The annual auction, January 2008 has ended.

The NEXT annual "SUPER stick" auction is planned, as usual, for January 1, 2009. I plan to post the best of the 2007 harvest but there will be ONLY 21 because my 2007 stick harvest was the poorest ever. But where I lack in QUANTITY, I more than made up for in QUALITY!

The 2007 stick harvest resulted in:
166 "Regular" sticks
3 "Rejects"
20 SUPER sticks, and some of them are unbelievable!!

I MIGHT, if I get bored one of these days, post photos of them here well ahead of the January auction. Maybe.

MAYBE.......... just Maybe, I'll slip in an unscheduled auction here; keep watching the site.

These are the "rules" : PLEASE BE AWARE OF THESE RULES!!!!

1. There is a minimum starting bid of US$35. per stick.

2. Bids are to be in increments of $5, so you cannot bid, for example, $38.

3. The end of the auction will be at noon MST on Tuesday, February 3, 2009.

4. You can NOT withdraw a bid; if you do, all your bidding will be removed.

5. No bids such as "I'll bid $20 more than your highest other bid" (tried that but it was considered unfair).

6. I'll ignore any bids which come in for amounts equal to or lower than a bid already received.

7. In your first bid, please provide your complete snail-mail address even if I already have it. ALSO, TELL ME that you HAVE READ THESE RULES.

8. I will mail the sticks to winning bidders as soon as the payment arrives.

9. NOTE: I CANNOT SEND OUT ORDERS OF LESS THAN 5 STICKS. SEE MY "ORDER" PAGE FOR THE REASONS; THEY ARE BEYOND MY CONTROL. IF YOU WIND UP WINNING LESS THAN 5 FROM THIS AUCTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO ADD TO IT 1, 2, 3 OR 4 "REGULAR" (c$20) STICKS TO MAKE UP 5. SORRY, I CAN'T HELP THAT. BE PREPARED FOR THIS POSSIBILITY. LAST AUCTION ONE FELLOW WON ONLY ONE AND HE DID NOT READ THIS STIPULATION SO THAT MEANS THAT STICK DID NOT SELL. That explains the discrepancy between the "20" and "21" mentioned earlier.

Last time, I did have some difficulty with some of the bids; they came in, e.g. lower than what had already been posted here. You might want to be sure your 'puter does not grab an old copy of this page from your cache; you can do that by holding down the "ALT (?????) key and clicking Refresh.

I might even have a unscheduled special auction here for some "SECONDS" which would be very nice sticks with some unfortunate flaws.

TOTAL COST: the cost of postage / insurance depends, of course, on destination, weight and measurements. Just to give you a VERY ROUGH idea:
mailed Jan. 08 to Louisiana, 15 sticks: $58.
mailed Jan. 08 to California, 7 sticks: $33.
mailed Jan. 08 to California, 25 Scout Sticks" $50.

Keep in mind, please, that you are MOST WELCOME to visit and "pick & choose" from my inventory of several hundred "Regular" sticks. Plenty of good folks have done just that.

In my "Regular" sticks there are, no doubt, some sticks which would qualify as "SUPER" sticks so if you want to come and pick out your sticks, you will be very pleased. For those who like the RAILS, please note the free offer on that page. It lives at http://www.sticksite.com/rails/.
