As you probably know, webcams come and go. Go to any website that lists cams and you'll find loads of bad links. Add to that the
problem of images that don't refresh, or images that are as tiny as a postage stamp, and you'll soon decide that searching for a
webcam is a frustrating experience.
I've done a lot of searching and listed here are the ones that I like. In my opinion, webcams should:
- present a large picture
- be in good or high resolution
- refresh automatically and frequently
- not require extra plugins
- preferably have no advertising on the image itself.
IF YOU have a good one, please email me: kenstick at telus dot net and thank you.

and click the magnifying glass
This URL gives you a large picture:

Gatun Locks is good too.
In Google Earth, copy and paste this into the "Fly to" box: 8 59'45.23"N, 79 35'27.17"W.
Probably my favorite link to it is this one:
http://www.pancanal.com/common/multimedia/webcams/viewer-flash/cam-miraflores-hi.html.
Note the links to other pages of the Panama Canal website; browse around and you'll find a lot of fascinating
info and animations plus videos. For example, note this one:
http://www.pancanal.com/eng/general/howitworks/como-tour.html.
Note; watching ships of all kinds is a popular hobby worldwide. For example, see the site here, where
you can find information about a huge number of ships:
http://containerinfo.co.ohost.de/. It is no secret that the Danish company, Maersk, is HUGE and you
can see a list of their fleet of ships (and more) at
http://about.maersk.com/en/Fleet/Pages/Fleet.aspx.
If watching ships and such is your "thing" then maybe this will help. This link will allow you to watch
"from the bridge" of many (all?) of the Princess Cruise ships' webcams:
http://www.princess.com/bridgecams/co/coral_bridgecam.html
THIS IS VERY COOL:
If you see ships there and cannot make out their names, go to this site and enlarge it to show the ships
individually and you can see ALL about them in REAL TIME!

Best if you set it to refresh every 2 seconds.

Note links to 4 other Halifax cams; too bad about all the advertising on them.

Note there are 4 cams; one of them underwater; too bad about all the advertising.

The view here most of the time is too cloudy to see anything but keep trying and you may get lucky and
see a beautiful view of this active volcano which has been threatening to blow its top anytime. This is
the "DFR" webcam; another webcam of this same volcano, that is sometimes very good is at "Hut" which you can see at
